Who I Am: From Tottenham to Four Albums
Before you pick a design, here's a little about me: where I come from, how my music began, and why my albums have numbers for names.
Where do I come from?
I was born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins on 5 May 1988 in Tottenham, London. I studied at the BRIT School in Croydon and finished there in May 2006. That September I signed with XL Recordings, and in March 2008 I signed with Columbia for the US.
How did my music begin?
My first single, "Hometown Glory", is a song I wrote when I was 16. It came out in October 2007. My debut album, 19, followed in 2008, and "Chasing Pavements" went to number two in the UK.
Why do my albums have numbers?
Each one is named after my age at the time:
- 19 (2008)
- 21 (2011), with "Rolling in the Deep", "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain"
- 25 (2015), led by "Hello"
- 30 (2021), with "Easy on Me" and "Oh My God"
What else have I done?
"Skyfall", the song I sang for the James Bond film of the same name, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2013. I've won 16 Grammy Awards, and I was made an MBE. On stage, I played Weekends with Adele in Las Vegas from 2022 to 2024 and ten shows in Munich in August 2024.
Where do the designs come in?
The albums. 19, 21 and 30 each have a hand-drawn number design of their own, and Hello stands in for 25.
The songs. Hello and Oh My God put the titles in big, bold capitals.
The shows. Weekends with Adele and Adele in Munich carry their show dates, on the back of several pieces.
Every design comes on tees, long sleeves, crewnecks and hoodies, with kids' and youth sizes too.
